Do not consider yourself a tourist in some exotic restaurant, but rather a student here to improve and enhance yourself both physically and mentally. Anyone who is studious, fearless, and willing to face difficulty with persistent effort is welcome!”
—— Master Li Quan
Kungfu Family's excellent training facilities include both well-proven traditional training equipment and modern state-of-the-art equipment. The school maintains a special focus on employing traditional training means to bring students closer to the roots of Kungfu.
Our school features many of the traditional methods and tools used in China for centuries: Bamboo Circle, Wooden Dummy, Stone Lock, Iron Sand Herb Bag, Liu He Posts, Wu Xing Pillars, and Rock Balls, for example.
The traditional methods work to create a martial artist who is tough and resilient. Hitting the Bamboo Circle hurts; jabbing the Iron Sand Bag over and over hurts. This pain, however, hardens the body and mind. On the other side of this pain is the Kungfu practitioner you dream of.
Not everything at Kungfu Family is pain and suffering, however. The school also employs standard heavy bags and pads, gloves and sparring gear, and mats for a more modern gym experience. The two methods work hand in hand to build you up into a capable martial artist.
For those students who stay long-term at the school, including students taking Master Li’s instructor course, there are many opportunities to venture out and augment your martial arts training with travel, Chinese language courses, and other endeavors.
Some activities Kungfu Family can help facilitate are:
Visiting other martial artists in order to know more about kungfu and make some friends
Chinese calligraphy, Tea art show, Musical performance and some other cultural activities.
To take part in some local competitions and tournaments when your skill is okay.
Make some opportunities to teach for developing your teaching ability
First and foremost, Kungfu Family is a home.
Students who spend time training here become friends and family, and are introduced to the larger world of Sichuan Kungfu, which includes sister schools, other Masters, the city of Chengdu and its environs, Sichuan Province, and the cultural and historical network of martial arts across China.
Students often return and spend time just drinking tea and catching up with Master Li. Students refer their friends; they help each other out. The whole school acts as a surrogate family with members scattered all over China and the world. This is the foundation of any martial arts practice: establishing a home and family that supports and encourages each other.
Remember: Here is your home in China! This city for you should not be strange since then Anytime when you are back in Chengdu, here is the shelter you can count on.
